Electromagnetism - Paranormal Studies

It is impossible to escape from electromagnetism, as it is virtually everywhere? Whether you're walking, driving or sitting at your desk, you're subjected to electromagnetic fields from the earth's rotation, which is hardly 0.1 milli-gauss but is still ever-present. Other devices like microwaves, refrigerators or computers can register as high as 20 milli-gauss on an EMF meter. So far, the World Health Organization maintains that there is no real danger from these energy fields around us. Yet what if there were unseen forces interacting with the energy from these electromagnetic fields, forces that are comprised of some energy form, that can neither be created nor destroyed? This is the basis of electromagnetic theory and paranormal theory, which are believed to be related.

In 1791, electromagnetism theorist Michael Faraday studied the effects of a magnetic field around a conductor and theorized that the magnetic field and the electric field acted upon each other, which became known as Faraday's Law of Induction. In paranormal studies, researchers suggest, then, that spirits can draw upon these fields to make objects move. Documented studies show that unexplainable paranormal events often occur in the presence of high EMF spikes. Currently, there is no scientific way to explain why an electromagnetic field would suddenly increase in density from no apparent source, which lends fuel to the paranormal researcher's fire.

There is no official statement on the dangers of electromagnetic fields, with regard to one's health. However, some people report experiencing crawling sensations, nausea, headaches, dizziness, anxiety and paranoia after 12 hours of exposure to areas that register as low as 50 milli-gauss of electromagnetic waves. Some scientists say that workers who are near power lines or boxes suffer depression or may even be at a higher risk for cancer from being around these areas, although definitive links have not been shown in clinical tests. While much is not understood, pregnant women are urged to have an EMF meter reading done in their home to ensure that unshielded wires aren't creating high electromagnetic field readings. Multiple power boxes combined with unshielded wires can register a reading as high as 360 milli-gauss, which creates a "fear cage." Sometimes paranormal researchers will reach an area where they feel immediately uneasy, which could be side effects from an abundance of electromagnetic energy in the area.

Electromagnetism is new to the paranormal research community, but has also shown new benefits for the scientific community. Magnetic therapy products have been popular in China for centuries, but just recently the FDA approved the use of trans-magnetic stimulation to treat depression. Additionally, it's believed that when combined with nanotechnology, magnets can be the key to targeting and eliminating cancerous cells. It appears the answer to many of life's great mysteries is held in electromagnetic fields.
